The Legacy

The Evolution of a Visionary

Where Philip Michael Thomas is now — from Miami Vice to the head of an independent catalog built to outlast the era that made him famous.

Chapter One

Before the Screen, There Was the Song

Long before millions knew him as Ricardo Tubbs, Philip Michael Thomas was a musician. Stage work and songwriting came first; the camera came later. That order matters, because it explains everything that followed.

Television made him a household name. It did not make him a different artist. Between takes and after the series ended, the compositions kept arriving — written for their own sake, filed away, and left to age.

Chapter Two

Life After Miami Vice

When Miami Vice ended, the expected move was more television. Philip chose the harder road: ownership. Rather than renting his name to other people's projects, he began building a catalog he controlled outright — masters, publishing, and the freedom to release on his own timeline.

That decision cost him visibility for years. It also preserved something rarer: a body of original work that never had to be approved by a committee.

Chapter Three

Cosmic Diamond Distribution

Today Philip Michael Thomas leads Cosmic Diamond Distribution, the independent label and imprint that now carries his life's work directly to listeners and collectors. There is no middle layer. The music, the writing, and the signed editions come straight from the artist.

The label's first pillar is All My Love — original compositions and demos, presented as they were made. Its second is the catalog of vocalist Marilyn Justin, whose recordings Cosmic Diamond now stewards. Alongside them sit the e-book Truth Sayings, signed collector portraits, and the Heart & Canvas letters.

Chapter Four

The Vision Ahead

Icon. Composer. Visionary. The three words are not a slogan — they are a sequence. The icon was made by an era, the composer predates it, and the visionary is what happens when an artist finally owns both.

What Philip Michael Thomas is doing now is simple to state and difficult to do: releasing the work on his own terms, one edition at a time, for the people who were always listening.
